Entre el 30 de noviembre y el 3 de diciembre, Mariquita será el epicentro de la Vuelta Nacional del Futuro, evento organizado por la Federación Colombiana de Ciclismo, con el apoyo del Ministerio del Deporte, que promueve a las futuras promesas de este deporte, en las categorías prejuvenil (hombres) y juvenil (damas).
La carrera en la que Juan Sebastián Castillo Burgos y Simón David Vaca del Putumayo estarán compitiendo constará de cuatro etapas, que empezarán con una contrarreloj de 18.2 kilómetros, que saldrá de Guayabal (Armero) y llegará al municipio de Mariquita, en el Tolima.
La segunda etapa tendrá un recorrido de 53 kilómetros, saliendo de Mariquita y estará cruzando por Honda, Puerto Bogotá y llegada a Cambao, el viernes 1 de diciembre.
Luego, entre los municipios de Mariquita y Victoria, Caldas se disputará la tercera fracción de 52.5 kilómetros, que se llevará a cabo el sábado 2 de diciembre.
Las carreras culminarán el domingo 3 de diciembre, con una etapa de 52.4 kilómetros, entre Mariquita, Honda, Puerto Bogotá y Guaduas.
El cronograma oficial de la edición 34 de la Vuelta Nacional del Futuro se abrirá el miércoles 29 de noviembre, con la revisión de licencias y confirmación de ciclistas, el congresillo técnico, y la reunión de la organización con representantes de la policía, comisarios, fotógrafos, camarógrafos y conductores.
La presentación de equipos se realizará en el Parque Principal de Mariquita, a partir de las 3:30 de la tarde.
